Matt's note: This 55 year old K5-A is a very strong runner, one of the smoothest pre-solid state mixers I've worked on. I absolutely love the angled pedestal from the early 70s K5-A. And the vintage shape of the dough hook and flat beater set this particular mixer apart from a later K5-A.

This early-70s Hobart-produced KitchenAid K5-A Mixer just received an extensive refresh, to include new gaskets, grease, pins, o-ring, and a new 3-prong cord installed (with the ground wire connected to the stator stud behind the bearing bracket, as it should). The production date appears to be late 1971 (c. Oct) based on the date on the armature. Take comfort in knowing Matt's Mixer Repair offers a one-year warranty and completely stands behind every item sold. And Delivery is available!

Includes: Stand Mixer, original dough hook and flat beater, with a whisk which is from a later K5-A (all are in good condition). The bowl appears to be from a later K5-A and has swirl marks from a whisk, but is functional and clean.

Paint Condition: 6/10. The paint is original to the machine and shows signs of use (see pictures). The paint on the head is actually quite nice with lots of gloss still left. No rust under the paint...but some slight corrosion under the base where the foot tabs were welded to the base (under warranty).

Mechanical: 9.5/10. This is a solid mixer in very good condition internally. Machine was thoroughly cleaned and regreased using Phillips 66 Food Machinery Grease. The mixer is very smooth and has very little fluctuation throughout the speeds. As all K5-As are, it is on the louder side, but the gears look barely used, so this should give you decades of reliable service.
