About
Welcome to Matt’s Mixer Repair, run by, you guessed it, Matt, a 23-year veteran of the US Air Force. After our great adventure, my wife and I returned to the beautiful Pacific Northwest on Whidbey Island where we reside with our rescue pup, and we all know the pup is the real boss! How’d I end up in my shop, repairing and selling mixers? Well my passion for Hobart-era KitchenAid mixers starts where you think it would, homemade pizza crust! We had been shopping for the perfect mixer for a while, one that could handle a diverse workload of Christmas cookies, pasta, and kneading but between the motor capacity of current mixers and the sheer cost of new models, it was a challenge to find ‘the one.’ Then one sunny Saturday, I came across my first mixer at a yard sale. Would you believe I scored a K-5A classic with the coveted copper bowl for under $50! The mixer had been well loved over the years and needed a bit of attention, ok, a lot of attention. But this is the mixer that started it all; I took it apart, cleaned it up and serviced it, learning along the way. In restoring something with my hands and giving the old mixer new purpose I found something for myself, something personally rewarding. Now my hope is that I can continue working on these incredible machines, maybe restore a beloved heirloom mixer, or provide an opportunity for someone’s first mixer, I just hope to keep more of these incredible machines in service, and at the heart of family meals/memories.
